Dry eye is caused by numerous factors and is a common problem following cosmetic surgery. The eyelids are naturally positioned just inside the iris or colored part of the eye to limit the exposed surface area of the eye. Cosmetic eyelid surgery may open the eye more and weaken the ability for the eye to close. Occassionally, the eyelids may not meet with each blink or remain open at night while sleeping.
Dry eye symptoms following cosemtic eyelid surgery may be temporary. If you have had cosmetic surgery and you are experiencing dry eyes, blurry vision, red eyes or constant irriation see one of our doctors for a consultation.
