What Is a VI Peel?

The VI Peel uses a specialized blend of TCA, Phenol, Salicylic Acid, vitamin C, and Retinoic Acid to exfoliate the skin and support deeper collagen regeneration. Applied in layers and left on for four hours, the solution clears away impurities while jumpstarting the skin’s natural renewal process. Patients often notice a more refreshed, radiant complexion after just one treatment.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a VI Peel?

VI Peels are appropriate for a wide range of patients due to their gentle yet effective formulation. Most people seeking improvement in texture, tone, and discoloration are great candidates. The peel is not recommended for:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding patients
  • Those with active infections or skin lesions
  • Individuals with allergies to specific ingredients (such as phenol, hydroquinone, or aspirin)
  • Those who have taken Accutane within the last six months
  • Patients currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
  • Those with a history of autoimmune or liver disease

Dr. Connor will evaluate your skin and medical history during your consultation to ensure this is the right treatment for you.

What Happens During My Session?

Before your appointment, Dr. Michael Connor may recommend pausing the use of retinoids, acids, waxing, or laser hair removal to prepare the skin. At the start of your session, your skin will be gently cleansed to remove oil and debris. Then, the VI Peel solution will be applied using a specialized applicator. You may feel mild tingling or warmth as it is brushed on, but discomfort is minimal. You’ll leave the office with the solution still on your skin and will wash it off at home after four hours, following Dr. Connor’s guidance.

What to Expect During Recovery

After a VI Peel, the skin may darken slightly as the top layers begin to shed. This is a normal part of the renewal process, as melanin and surface-level damage rise to the surface before flaking away.

Peeling Phase

Peeling usually begins around day three and continues for up to seven days. During this time, you may experience dryness and sensitivity. Makeup should be avoided while peeling is active.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 72–96 hours.
  • Follow the post-procedure product instructions provided.
  • Wear SPF 50 and avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Use a gentle moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated.
